For Writers

So you want to write kids’ books? Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Read at least 100 recent books in the style or genre you’d like to write
  2. Brainstorm at least 25 story ideas – sometimes amazing ideas are hiding behind some okay ideas
  3. Write write write!
  4. Find a critique partner or group to share stories and feedback
  5. Take classes, read articles, and do workshops/webinars on building your writing skills
